FRANK J. HETZER
Frank enlisted in the Marine Corps on 13 October 1961 and served thru 13 October 1968. He attended Boot Camp at Paris Island, SC. and Camp Geiger for ITR in NC. His first posting was with the 2nd Marine Div, 2nd Field Artillery Group FMF as a radio operator in a FO Team. In 1963 he transferred to 4th Com.Co., Headquarters Btln. 4th Marine Div. in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was assigned to the Radio Platoon and became an instructor in Radio Communications. He remained in that position until 13 October 1968.
Frank joined the Chosin Reservoir Detachment in 1997. In March of 1999, he was elected Commandant and held the office until April of 2010. Items Frank put in place while serving as Commandant are: A). Uniforms...both casual (red blazers w/: black trousers) and Dress Blues for Color Guard, B).The Detachment Color Guard, C). The Detachment Election Dinner, D). The Detachment Christmas Dinner, E) The Detachment Marine Corps Birthday Party, F). The Detachment Toys-For-Tots campaign and G). The Meeting Itinerary form.
